This book took a little while for me to get into, but I thought the latter half of the book was really engaging. The ending makes me want to read more about the characters. I want to know what happens to Cinder and Kai and even the supporting characters!! I loved Cinder’s character, but Kai’s character seemed a little bland to me.

The world building was very nicely done in this novel, and the powers that the Lunars have seem really interesting. There is a lot of potential for Meyer to play with in this world.

I adored the fairy tale re-telling. It was clear enough that I could draw parallels between the classic fairy tale and the retold version, but the story is still subtle enough that it is realistically adapted to this sci-fi version, and it isn’t the exact same. I’m excited to read the other books in this series!!
