However, let me just say, my emotions were all over the place when I finished those two books. I have a road trip this weekend, so I might be able to get some reading done or some review writing done!

How are you all doing in your read-a-thons?

Challenge

Today’s challenge is hosted by the wonderful Lori @ Writing My Own Fairy Tale.

Would you rather:
Lend books to someone who dog-ears pages or to someone who reads with cheesy Cheetos fingers?

A: Dog ears – that’s more fixable than orange cheeto dust!

Would you rather:
Be able to meet one character of your choice or meet one author of your choice?

A: Author of choice – I get to hear about all the characters she/he has created!

Would you rather:
Never be allowed in a book store again or never be allowed in a library again?

A: Book store – Library has an amazing selection, plus, I don’t have to pay!

Would you rather:
Have to choose one of your favorite characters to die in their book or have to pick one of your favorite couples to break up in their book?

A: Favorite couple to break up – at least they’re still alive

Would you rather:
Be required to read Twilight once a year for the rest of your life or The Scarlet Letter once a year for the rest of your life?

A: This one is hard… I’ve never read Twilight, so probably that! Maybe Scarlet Letter if I can just Sparknotes it, but that’s cheating.

Bout of Books

I’m excited to be participating in my very first Bout of Books! I can’t wait to join all the twitter sprints and challenges, and hopefully, I’ll get some reading done for the new year.

My Tentative TBR:

Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson – I am currently reading this 1000+ paged book, but I probably won’t finish before 1/4/2016, so we’ll see how much of this I can read!

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater – this is for a buddy read I’m doing with Kate from Kate Reads Lit! You should go follow her, she’s awesome.

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard – this is for a buddy read I’m doing on Goodreads!

Elementals: The Prophecy of Shadows by Michelle Madow – ARC from Netgalley, it’s published on Jan. 26th, so I need to read it soon!

That might be all I can get through in a week, especially if I read a lot of Way of Kings.

Are you participating in one of the many, many read-a-thons going on this week? Tell me your TBRs below!

Also, HAPPY NEW YEAR’S DAY EVERYONE! Here is to an amazing 2016!

#CrushYourTBR May 2015 Wrap Up!

Hey! So, the past weekend was the #crushyourTBR read-a-thon.  To see my TBR list for this read-a-thon, click here.  Overall, this was not the most successful read-a-thon, but it was fun to participate in and do the sprints!

I wanted to finish 3 books this weekend: Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin, The Young Elites by Marie Lu, and The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.

I managed to finish The Young Elites and I adored it! To see my full book rambling, click here. I loved the characters (especially Raffaele), and the twists and turns that Marie Lu took us readers on were intense.  Also, this novel has a very, very dark narrator, a dark anti-hero type, and it was so fun to read from her perspective! Definitely recommend.

Then, instead of reading my other two chosen books, I chose to read Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater instead.  I thought her writing was very beautiful, but I developed no attachment or interest towards any of the characters or their relationships.  The ending was much better than the beginning, but it was too little, too late in my opinion.  I will NOT be doing a book rambling on this novel, and I probably will not continue the series, which does make me sad because I don’t like uncompleted series, but there are so many other books I need to get through. 😦

I ended up not picking up Game of Thrones this weekend because it was just too heavy after The Young Elitesbut I did start The Book Thief!

A

#CRUSHYOURTBR Read-a-thon: May 2015!!

I’m excited to be participating in the Crush Your TBR Book-a-thon this month! This is a monthly read-a-thon and lasts for 3 days.  This one will start on May 15th at 12:00 AM your time and go through May 17th.  It is hosted by the lovely Raeleen and Jacquelyn and you can check out the read-a-thon’s twitter here.

I have some errands to do over this weekend, but most of it should be reading time!

Here’s my TBR list for the read-a-thon:

game thebookthief_2 you

1. Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin – I know this is a huge book, but I am about half way through it.  Even if I cannot finish it during this weekend, hopefully I will be able to read a good chunk!

2. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak – I finally got this as an e-book! So many people have recommended this and told me to read it, so hopefully I’ll be able to get around to it this weekend. I’m really excited about this one, and ready to let the tears fall. (This one is also a big one, but I will stay up all night to finish it)

3. The Young Elites by Marie Lu – I’ve been reading this since…May 5th! It’s been almost 10 days and I’m still not finished! I love the novel so far, but I’m moving really slowly through it.  I’m half-way through, so maybe this read-a-thon will help me finish it!

T minus 5 hours and 3 minutes until #crushyourtbr officially begins for me! I’ll be updating my progress throughout the weekend on this blog and on twitter!
