Bout of Books

I’m excited to be participating in my very first Bout of Books! I can’t wait to join all the twitter sprints and challenges, and hopefully, I’ll get some reading done for the new year.

My Tentative TBR:

Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson – I am currently reading this 1000+ paged book, but I probably won’t finish before 1/4/2016, so we’ll see how much of this I can read!

The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater – this is for a buddy read I’m doing with Kate from Kate Reads Lit! You should go follow her, she’s awesome.

Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard – this is for a buddy read I’m doing on Goodreads!

Elementals: The Prophecy of Shadows by Michelle Madow – ARC from Netgalley, it’s published on Jan. 26th, so I need to read it soon!

That might be all I can get through in a week, especially if I read a lot of Way of Kings.

Are you participating in one of the many, many read-a-thons going on this week? Tell me your TBRs below!

Also, HAPPY NEW YEAR’S DAY EVERYONE! Here is to an amazing 2016!

Weekend Reads: Thanksgiving 2015 Edition

Thanksgiving is coming up this week for all us USA-ers which means a lot of turkey and some free time!  During this thankful holiday season, I am very thankful that I will have some time off to read and catch up on my TBR before the year ends.  I wanted to do a Weekend Reads post – extended into the entire week – for what I am currently reading and want to read during Thanksgiving break.

Current Reads:

In normal Alice fashion, I am in the middle of a couple books right now.  One is a much recommended classic, Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.  The other novel I am reading is Onyx by Jennifer L. Armentrout.  The cover for Jane Eyre is absolutely stunning, and the other…not so much.  However, I am really enjoying both books!

To Be Read:

17564519 the-way-of-kings                   18189606  23198876

After I finish the two that I am currently reading, I hope to pick up some of these books.  I have heard so many good things abut Walk on Earth a Stranger by Rae Carson, and I loved her Fire and Thorns trilogy, so I am excited to try her most recent novel.  I finished The Book of Ivy by Amy Engel about two days ago, and I really want to pick up The Revolution of Ivy! The first book ended in a pretty big cliffhanger, so I am itching to read this one.  Also, if I am in the mood for some YA Contemporary, I want to pick up Since You’ve Been Gone even though YA Contemporary is not my favorite genre, Morgan Matson is queen! Finally, back to my favorite genre – fantasy – and one of my favorite authors – Brandon Sanderson – I want to pick up book one of the Stormlight Archives: The Way of Kings.  This is about 1000 pages, so I probably will not be able to finish it, but I cannot wait to get started!

Do you all have any reading plans for this week/end?

TBR: May 2015!

Hello Everyone!! May is going to be a busy month for me with final exams and school ending, but after two weeks of exams I should have 2 weeks of good ole free time to get some reading done.  Here’s my TBR list for May:

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer – This is a fairytale retelling of Little Red Riding Hood and it is book 2 of the Lunar Chronicles. I’ve just finished book 1 of the Lunar Chronicles, Cinder, and I love the world it takes place in! I heard that the second book is actually even better than the first, so I’m excited to read this one.  It took me around a week to read Cinder which I should have flew threw, so hopefully this one does not take as long!

Days of Blood & Starlight by Laini Taylor – Book 2 of the Daughter of Smoke and Bones trilogy.  I also just finished book 1 on this series, and I’m excited to jump into this one right away.  I’ve heard lots and lots of good things about this novel, and it’s continuing my trend of fantasy for this month!

The Archived by Victoria Schwab – I’ve heard amazing things about both this book and author, and this will be the first Victoria Schwab book I read.  I’m really, really excited about this one!! It sounds really interesting. When I first read the synopsis on Goodreads, it was really intriguing.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling – Don’t worry, everyone. This is a re-read.  I want to do a rereading of the entire series before I go on vacation at the end of June. I’m not sure if I will be able to get through 6 Harry Potter books in the month of June, but I’m going to try because I will be home all day… Maybe I’ll be able to get through both this and Chamber of Secrets in May, but we’ll see.
